Use an anti-dandruff shampoo.

What people think is dandruff is often just dry skin. Moisturising shampoo helps dry skin, anti-dandruff shampoo makes it worse.

I didn't know that! So dandruff is like, a specific thing, and people who have dandruff-like stuff might just need some extra conditioner?

Moisturising shampoo, rather than more conditioner. Shampoo is for the scalp, conditioner is for the ends.

Dandruff as I understand it, is caused by particular microbes which need to be ERADICATED.

Yup, dandruff is an infection and causes greasy lumps of skin. Go the advertising industry for not telling the truth...again.

Did you guys know that here are actually two types of dandruff??

I didnt...

But yes,one for oily and one for normal to dry hair and they both need to be treated in different ways.

Random, I just thought that was interesting.

My brother has had very bad dandruff, but has been using something called Oilatum shampoo which seems to have cleared it up. Might be worth having a look at.

I swear by Ketaconazola, having found other anti-dandruff shampoos did squat, though it's a prescribed thing so I'd recommend asking a doctor about it.

First of all you must buy some real anti dandruff shampoo in pharmacy not in supermarket. Second, use your shampoo twice in one wash and get more more water to rinse it. If you does't rinse your hair well, best shampoo will never help you.
