I am extremely confused in regards to linking....

May sound pretty dumb but I don't get it from the tutorial thing.

I am technology useless and it is going way over my head and I only want to show pictures of the stuff I have made :(

Is there an easier way of explaining it to a comp dunce like me?

Sorry hmm

When you click reply, (not quick reply), there's a little icon that looks a bit like a couple of links in a chain, if you highlight the words you want linked, and click on that icon it brings up a little window. If you copy and paste the address of the website or page you want to link to into the first box and click insert your link should work.

Sorry if that didn't make much sense, I'm sure someone will be able to explain it a bit better.

Have you highlighted the text you want to use when linking? It will only let you click on the insert link button when some text is highlighted.

Did you go to the page with the photo on that you want and then just copy and paste the address into the box?

Okay Minerva. I have said this before, but I shall say it again. I don't know why, because I really don't like repeating myself...

Step 1. You have a picture.
Step 2. You go to a site like tinypic.com.
Step 3. On that site, you upload the photo from your computer. To do this, you just click on a button that says 'browse' and then you go through all of the pics on your computer until you find the one you want. Select that photo. You do this by clicking on the photo and then clicking 'upload'.
Step 4. Now you have a page that looks like this.

Step 5. Open a new tab or window. Now go to Mookychick. (This website).
Step 6. In a topic, click in the box at the bottom where you would type your reply. Then, click on the button that says 'advanced editor'.

Step 7. Write some words. Highlight one of these words by clicking the mouse and dragging it along the word. Once this has been achieved, you can then see the little symbol that looks like a chain. It is eleven along on the second row down of the little icons. When you click on this, a little form comes up. like this.
Step 8. Click on your tinypic tab, which you have had ready. The text you want to paste into the URL box is the text that says URL over it. Are you with me? So you select that text, right click, select 'copy' from the menu that appears when you click your right hand mouse button.
Step 9. Click back onto your mooky tab. Right click in the URL box that has come up (shown in the last picture I linked to). That little menu comes up again. Click 'paste'. Now click 'insert'.

By this stage, you should have a link.

Thanks for your help but that kind of went over my head so I am going to give up and not post links, I really don't understand it and things like that just frustrate me.

So sorry to have pestered you all for help but this sort of stuff just baffles me but thankyou anyway.

I don't think Candy could have really been any more clear. Try actually using the advice she's given, especially seeing as she's laid it all out so nicely for you. I had problems linking at first too, but honestly, once you get it, it's not that hard.

Sorry but I have slight issues/problems where I can't grasp things like that. I can't process solutions to problems very easily and I just end up frustrated. It's taken me a long time to understand photoccket, facebook and basic forums, a blog has taken me a while to grasp too.

But like I said thankyou for all the help anyway.

Where is it that you are going wrong? As in, which step are you having problems with?

Also, just out of interest, what made you choose Minerva as your username?

I really don't know what and where I am going wrong- sort of given up I guess.

I love mythology and my favourite stories are of Minerva, Arachne, Medusa and Athena.

A lso Minerva is the defensive goddess of war which appeals to me and is representative of arts and crafts and also wisdom (I am often told I ma wise for my age hmm), which is why she is often symbolised by an owl.

I am an avid crafter, and quite creative and also love weaving etc so has always fit in with me. I can teach myself how to do many things like crochet, weaving etc but anything to do with computers and other sort of practical things I  have trouble understanding, it has been like this since I was achild and just avoid doing 'difficult' things!

The other username I use on other forums is Aurora as sleeping beauty is my favourite film.

Alternatively...

After you have uploaded a picture to photobucket or whatever:
Highlight the address in the address bar (the bit you type in to go to a website)
Right click and copy or press CTRL C.

Start your Mooky reply.

Type so you end up with (without the space - it's making my post into a link if I don't have the space)
Paste the address or press CTRL V
Then type

If you want the link to say something to describe what you are linking to put in the following:
[ url= http://www...etc ] again with no spaces
Then type your description
Immediately after the description put in

Hope that helps a little bit.

That should have worked-but I noticed you have spaces in the directory structure which seems to have broken things. Try linking to an image where the URL has no spaces in it. :)

No, just adding an image to a post isn't really allowed.

Linking is good. Everyone works out how to do linking.

Posting pictures seems to slow down the board servers so it's better to do links.

It's a case of changing the img tab for url.

Nah, it's ok, but thanks for the offer...

Obviously I must be too dumb too work this forum, think I may just stick to the ones I know how to use :(

Sorry to have bothered everyone, I am just extremely useless when it comes to anything that I just do not understand. I have trouble processing sometimes even the simplest of things unless its crochet!

Poor Minerva! 'Tis very frustrating for you. If you get a friend to help you go through Candy's rather lovely guide, you'll find that once you've actually seen it done once, it's as easy as pie.

Though why pie should be considered easy, I will never know. compared to the banana or even more simple strawberry, it is Einsteinian.

Edited because Minerva only has one 'v' in it as any fule kno. It's not 'Minverva' which was what I typed. Silly me.
