it depends on the size of the pic altogether, if i'm not mistaken. i thought my pic would be larger too, until i realized that it was small originally.

Yes, they are all tiny now. Is it possible for Madga or Kittyfire to fiddle with the maximum avatar size controls? If I remeber correctly invisionfree allowed me to do that, but since Mokky is on a different server....

OK, the maximum size for an avatar is now 100 by 100 pixels. I'm not using a computer with links to any of my artwork at the moment, so can't switch avatars to check if this works right now.

Oh, they are bigger now. Time to change my avatar to Grell!

EDIT: Oh, not much of a difference. I prefered them larger. But, if we can;t get them larger I suppose we can deal with it.

Oh it ain't that good. It isn't even being worn right. I've also re-styled it, cut it and add a little spiky bit. It is alctually around 51 inches long. It has to be tied up all the time except for photos. But, right now it is sitting on a Mickey Mouse toy. I've run out of wig heads!

I'm being lazy and instead of starting a new topic I thought I should just add it here. Are we allowed to have animated avatars? Do they have to have a maximum number of frames? Is it too bad for the bandwidth to have them?

Quick question.

We're told to put html links for images instead of the [img] tags and I'm wondering why?

My boy reckons that img tags don't create any problems for this forum's bandwidth as it's the hosting site's bandwidth that gets used...

Anyway, I'm not going to go posting a ton of img tags, it's curiosity more than anything.

RE: Images

I've wondered this too. My boy just told me that using image tags doesn't really have an effect on the site's servers, but also brought up the point that people on slow connections will have a hard time loading the page if it contains images. I think one or two small images in a thread should be ok.

As Fiend says, it affects load times on computers that are on slow connections.

As a guide we ask people to have links to images.

If you do upload an image, we ask that it be a maximum of 200px wide, if possible. Thanks :)

What about animated images? Would they have to be even smaller? Or just stick to linking to them.

Any chance of a password protected thread?

Arranging dates for this unofficial meet up is going to be difficult without knowing when everyone is available, but posting holiday dates on the web may make some people anxious. Is there any way of having a password protected thread?
If not I'll make a password protected blog or piczo or something.
Cheers :)

Not currently, but I think there may be a possibility of a secure thread somewhere, that I can give permissions to. Will have to have a look around when I get time.

How urgent is this?

It would be good to get sorting soonish, but there may be people who don't know their holiday dates yet!
So whenever you get the time, that's cool with us.
Thank youuuuuuuu!

Ok, there's a password protected section, but I need to figure out a good password, which I will then send out to people on request.

I'll let people know when it's live, because I'm also trying to figure out a more secure option.

Can you send it to me? Or is it just for admins and everyone who is coming can be PM-ed?

Once I've decided on a password that works, not the temporary, easy to crack one that's in place, I'll either go through the mookymeet thread thing and pm the password to those who are definitely going, or ask people to pm me requests for the password. Probably the latter.

Currently, the secure section is still very much a test place, which I threw together in about five minutes when I couldn't sleep last night. I'm not a big fan of password protected sections, as a password passed around how ever many people need it isn't very secure. What I wanted to look at, when I have some magical spare time, is section that you can only access if we add you to the list. That way it's easier to moderate and manage.

I also only want this section to be used for specific, pre agreed, topics, such as arranging meeting times and collection points, posting of mookyjournals. Not for any random old tat, as there's plenty enough sections elsewhere for that. (Also, feel I should add that although we've set up the section, we still can't officially endorse the big Mooky Meet you guys are organising, as we can't be there to ensure safety and what have you...)

"New Posts" are old posts

It's obviously not a big deal, but of all the forums I've belonged to, I've never seen one that does this. When logging back in, it looks like tons of topics have been posted to recently, but looking closer, while the icon says new posts, the thread is old. I mean, maybe it's because through the day I long into the forums from various computers and the cookies that are being stored on that computer determine it. But, it also seemed to happen when I logged into the same computer consecutively.

Easy solution, use the recent posts tab on the menu bar.
