Injections and heights but the heights one is a fear and fascination rolled into one...is that weird?

I totally agree - the fear of heights it because a little part of you just wants to jump off and fly!

If you were on an unfenced clifftop hundreds of feet up, would you have the nerve to crawl to the edge to look over? Is there anyone here who could walk confidently to the edge?

I wouldn't want to stand upright and look down, but I have been known to be climbing up and over the top... As long as my hands are on something, I'm fine.

If it's windy, not a chance, but on the whole, yeah, I could.

i once did crawl to the edge of a 1000 foot cliff in Canyonlands Nat'l Park, Utah. I laid on my belly and it wasnt too bad. But i wouldnt walk. ever.

I personally fear torture and pool covers. they just freak me out. not so much anymore, but they used to.

I felt sick just looking over the railings at the top of the inside of the State building in Austin, TX and that was only a few floors up!

I was a bit dubious at the top of the Empire State Building (the huge gorilla didn't help...)

But I've decided that I'm going to face my fears, heights is the easiest. The worst that can happen is you fall...

The highest up I've been on the Empire State Building is the 60th floor. I was pretty little, and i was all, LOOK MOMMY! MC DONALDS!
But i think it's kind of closed to the public now.
I saw a really nasty spider at church yesterday and realized how scary spiders truly are.

I went to the somethingth floor. It's years ago now, I can't remember. There was a gift shop.

Spiders are misunderstood. Maybe we should all learn to speak spider.

I like that.

A friend of mine had a list of things that freaked her. They were

1 Pop socks
2 Articulated lorry cabs (ie without the trailer)
3 Guns with silencers

Guns with silencers are very legitimate, they're the tools of assassins and hit men...

And there's nothing worse than the banging of a gun when you're trying to get some rest... if all guns had silencers the world would be a more peaceful place...

I thought a gun was by its very nature a silencer?

I'm afraid of polyps that look like raisins and get squashed in people's armpits. I only saw this once, on a person on a plane, but I didn't like it much.

I have a genuine question that I hope won't make people feel uncomfortable: Many people are ill at ease around paraplegics, but we love it when people are vulnerable. Most people think their ill partners or people with a bandaged wrist are very cute. Why do we not extend this to paraplegics, and think they are cute because they are so vulnerable?

I wouldn't say I find paraplegics cute, as such, but I do try and treat them as a normal human being.

Then again, I have a phobia about amputation...

No, but I worry that people think I'm not paranoid enough.

Me too actually. When people ask this questions/ones similar I get a bit worried because I'm not really that scared of anything.

What I can't understand is the people who are scared of BEARDS.

I don't trust people with beards. Not sure why, but I tend to avoid them.

Is a spider snake hybrid really deadly?

Some snakes are more deadly than spiders and vice versa, it depends on the snake and spider in question. A spider with a flick knife would be more dangerous than a snake with a gun.

I remember watching this show when I was a little kid about how this certain kind of really poisonous spider used to love dark places, then it went on about this place in america where these spiders used to hide in towels and so when someone wrapped a towel around them the spider would bite them and kill them.

That made me scared of using towels but I use them anyway otherwise my house would be very damp.

Also, and Im sure im alone with this, but I have automatonophobia which is a fear of things that resemble humans.
So I hate wax statues of people and i HATE HATE HATE VENTRILOQUIST DOLLS!! They scare the living shit out of me!!! I once cried because I saw one on an advert once.
Even talking about them has made me come out in cold sweat.

Oh and big rusty ships scare me. Not sure why...

Has anyone who has a fear of needles seen Saw 2?? You must hate that film.

I remember being in school, aged around five or six, crying with fear at a ventriloquist who'd come in to entertain us.
They are evil, more evil than clowns.

I fear social situations. ^^; Especially embarrassment. I have this nervous laugh that people hear all the time. Most people think I'm genuinely laughing, which is both good and bad.

I used to have a fear of men, and a fear of being touched. I got over them though.

I'm so, so, so afraid of heights. Its a paralyzing fear sometimes. I stop breathing, or I breath very fast and shallow. I burst into tears. I become essentially helpless. Other times, I get those things to a lesser degree and I have this strange feeling of curiosity-- would it hurt if I jumped? Would I die? I always wonder...

I'm also afraid of needles, but that's getting better.

And bugs. Wasps and bees, mostly. I got stung ON THE BUM over the summer, and that just made it worse. I get very fit in the summer because I spend half my time running away from bees and wasps, horseflies, etc, etc.
