HOT TIPS FOR NEW FORUM MOOKS

Hello!

We hope you will be comfortable here. It's a friendly little haven for all genders, orientations and flavours. Here are some tips to help you on your way:

TAKING PART AS A NEW FORUM MOOK

Not sure what to say? You can introduce yourself and say a few words here.

We quite like discussing both big things and little things, so you are quite safe to start a new post about something you'd like to talk about! We all felt that moment of trepidation at starting a new post at one time or another, but yes, it is absolutely allowed!

You may find it easier at first to post a little something in the mega-threads, like The Happy Box, The mini-problem thread or What are you wearing right now?

YOUR INTERNET PRIVACY AND SAFETY

It's your personal profile, your choice! We recommend that you don't ever reveal your precise location, real name or similar personal details unless you REALLY feel it's sensible and okay to do so. Also, we tend to give the significant people in our lives a pseudonym when we talk about them here on the forum. Perspex, Isosceles, Flowerface, Unicorn... it doesn't matter what you call them, but you will feel a weight lifted to know that you have given them (and also yourself) that added anonymity.

SELF CARE AND TRIGGER WARNINGS

If you want to say something a bit personal, something you think might be triggering to people who aren't ready for it, you can hide your text as a spoiler so that people can choose to read that bit in your post. Just write your post, select the text you think might be sensitive, and click the 'spoil' button in the post's menu. Don't forget to add TW: (whatever topic it might be) above the spoilered copy so that people know what your spoilered content relates to.

DON'T BE AN ASSHAT

We are an inclusive bunch and won't tolerate any hatefulness or offence relating to race, gender, orientation, size, ability, faith, belief or anything else. As an example, if you say "I'm not sure if this is sexist, but..." it's probably sexist.

Spam is for tins, not for messageboards. We come down hard on spam.

If you need to get in touch with a moderator, you are always welcome to send a PM (private message) to Mookychicks. A mooky mod will be there to help.
