Alkalette, what would you recommend for wavy hair that can't quite decide whether it's more on the curly side or more on the poker straight side? It's also rather dry and currently looks like shit.

Curly Wurly again, possibly Cynthia Sylvia Stout for weight and shine. Then a healthy dose of R&B hair moisturiser.

We've also just brought out a Sea Spray so all you ladies who aren't happy with your curliness at the moment. It's great for texture, waves and lovely fragrance.

Yay for Alka and her knowledge!

I hope this isn't too silly a question, but was Rehab (I think that was the name) discontinued? I was using some of a friend's for a while and when I went looking for a bottle of my own, nothing! :( I've tried Seanik, liked that quite a bit but over time it dried my hair out. I tried H'Suan Wen Hua (had to do some copy and pasting there) and another treatment that had honey in it, I think, but I wasn't impressed with either. I want lovely soft hair again :( oh - preferably things that'll keep my purple from vanishing too quickly.

Also not sure if you could help me find anything to help my face out? I'm desperate to find something that works for me, I have very pale, sensitive, acne prone skin :( I've tried Angels on Bare Skin and Herbalism, but both left me feeling a bit greasy and spotty. I tried the Brazened Honey mask after a long chat with a lovely girl at Lush, it wasn't a perfect match but worked okay. I think overall honey tends to be pretty good for my skin (I use manuka as a cleanser) but I have a lot of those little skin colour spots and I'm having breakouts more regularly, so I'm interested in seeing if anything can help.

Sorry this was so long sweetheart, I'll kiss your feet if you can help me, ms fountain of knowledge :D xx

Rehab's still around, and isn't going anywhere. It is a bit colour-strippy though, so you might want to try Blousey. It's super softening as well as being great for coloured hair.

As for your skin...ooh you're a tricky one. How is your skin routine? Do you manage it every day? Do you wear much make up? How's your diet?
I'm surprised about Brazened Honey, if you're so sensitive but it can cause breakouts fo' sho' (it's great at pulling out deep down toxins but definitely not one to use the day before your wedding). I'm thinking Coalface at the moment, but I'd need to know a bit more I think.

^Ah, okay! Back when I used it I was an auburny colour so I wouldn't have really noticed the colour stripping-ness. I'll give Blousey a go, I was curious about it but don't know anyone who's tried it so I wasn't sure :)

I very very rarely wear any makeup aside from a Lush lip tint, but I probably don't do enough with my skin routine. I wash with UMF 10+ Manuka honey and occasionally do a mask of manuka, ground cinnamon and nutmeg, which sometimes brings up those spots that are lurking halfway under the surface but overall does a really good job. My diet's okay... haven't really noticed a link there. I've been on accutane three times for acne so acne's always been a problem for me, I'm relatively clear now but left with super sensitive, moody skin. I do find that although manuka's good, it doesn't do enough to degrease my nose so I feel a bit oily and get more blackheads than with normal cleansers.

I would try a very strict routine of Ultrabland morning and night then. I take mine off with a muslin cloth and hot water and usually stripping back your routine can really clear up your skin, then you can take time to introduce things that are also beneficial slowly back into it.

I love this thread. I really love it when mooks can use their areas of expertise to help everyone else!!

My question: Are there lots of small Lush factories around the world, and do they use exactly the same ingredients worldwide, or is there variation according to availability?

I honestly don't even know about the Christmas products yet. I've seen pictures online that I didn't want to see, but our training is on Thursday and I'll see, touch and smell them all then.

As for factories, I know we have two in Britain, one in Canada that supplies Canada and the USA at least but other than that I really don't know. I'm pretty sure that those three factories don't support the entire world.

alka, a strange question...

my collie is an outdoors kinda girl and because she hunts, she likes to disguise herself in 'smells of the countryside' as i shall diplomatically describe the poo and mud mask she normally wears.

this winter, instead of the normal aroma of wet dog hair and wafts of organic compounds i was wondering if there's anything nice for children (ie: a no more tears formula) that i can use on my smelly dog? (a bar/scrub or shampoo would do it)

The Christmas products that were on sale with the FUN pre-release are products that have been out in previous years. Stuff like Snow Fairy, Golden Wonder and Snowcake. They should all be on Facebook.

As for doggies, I don't have one myself but a lot of people swear by the shampoo bars for keeping animals beautiful and lovely. Soak and Float is particularly popular, and Trichomania shampoo as well is super gentle, even on doggies!

I have another question, is there anything in Lush that would soothe my boyfriend's itchy, flaky scalp?

Yay! I think you'd be so good Rubles, I'd have you in my store in a heartbeat.

Yes and yes Spigster! Superbalm if they've got that yet, or Snake Oil scalp massage bar. Both lovely oily things, work the oils into the scalp and wash like normal for Superbalm, or with Snake Oil you can leave it on, it just might look a bit greasy depending on how long his hair is. The Captain gets a flaky scalp and I Snake Oil him all the time. I love the bloody thing, but it is being discontinued :(

My skin is really dry but I have huge pores and spots too. It is a really tricksy combination. What skin products would you recommend? (cleanser, moisturiser, etc). I used Angels on Bare Skin and I loved it but it made my skin dry and slightly irritated.

Here's a question - you've mentioned Ultrabland as a cleanser loads of times here. I've been using it for years to remove eye makeup but that's about it. What's the best way to use it as a cleanser specifically?

A finger full of Ultrabland, rub it twixt your palms to give it a bit of a warm. Rub it all over your face, )I add an extra bit of rubbing on the eyes because I wear far too much mascara) then nice hot water and cotton wool, or a flannel or a muslin cloth. I love using muslins for removing it because it's a really gentle exfoliation at the same time.

Cnadd, Ultrabland (as described above) would be lovely, especially if you wear make up most days but if you're after a wash-off cleanser, try Aqua Marina. It's formulated for sensitive skins but I think if you didn't get on with AOBS you might want to try it. What's your routine like? Are you good at sticking to a strict-y strict?
Also, sorry but pore-size is hereditary. There is no opening or closing of pores like the beauty industry wants us to think. Pores only look more visible when they're dirty, try steaming using a toner tab (the tea tree one may be best for you) before a facemask. Mask of Magnaminty is a lovely one for a deep cleanse but you may find it too strong, so perhaps BB Seaweed or Cosmetic Warrior.

As for your skin being really dry generally, Skin Drink is a beautiful moisturiser, but grab a sample of that and of Celestial and see which one you prefer.

Oooh, I just recently looked up some LUSH products and I am falling in love! I'm currently interested in fragrances. One, what fragrance would you suggest that's heavenly (or is there a tester thing I can get?) and....If I want the fragrance to last me a long time, do I buy a solid or a liquid perfume?

The liquids have a higher concentration of essential oils and therefore last longer, but the solids are more portable and therefore top uppable. (Totally a word).

Unfortunately 'heavenly' isn't a very descriptive word when it comes to fragrance so I have no idea what you're into! We do sell a kind of tester pack of them, 2ml vials of the fragrances, for 19.95 and another one with the online exclusives again for 19.95. Lush online also do 2ml vials of everything if you have a read and like the sound of something.

HOWEVER

The best way to do it will always be to go into the shop, try some on your skin, go away and sniff it for a few hours.

Sweet! I just placed an order and decided to get "lust" in liquid form! I love jasmine, so I'd figured I get it along with the Lustre powder. I may do a little video review. ;D

As for Twilight SG, October 6th. Don't know how much as yet, I imagine it's up on the website though.
