RE: my quest to figure out why teenage girls are so in love with "Twilight"...

idk y i like it but i think it is the fact that a beautiful falls in love with a not-so-beautiful girl. it makes them feel better. xD

i don't super hate on twilight, but i did read the books, and the last 2 are HORRIBLE. i really did try to give them the benefit of the doubt, but they were bad. not judging people that like it or anything, but here's something for a chuckle for those who don't like it.

how twilight works

I'm a teenage girll and happy to say twilight is an utter shambles.
Bella- all she does is mutters and moans but every boy falls in love with her and fights over her... yeah, sure.
Edward- The most dishounoring vampire shaming sparkling fairy boy, I've ever had the misfortune to read about.
If I were his mother I'd kick him from the house.
Don't play with your food boy, enough said.

Bella has no personality because she's meant to be the reader's avatar; this isn't the first book to do that.  My problem with this series it that Bella- "my" proxy for this series and the character I'm supposed to step into for the purpose of this series has to be a mere mortal while everyone else gets to be superhuman.  All through the first book, all I could think was, "So, this is an escapist fantasy where my BOYFRIEND gets to be an all powerful, sparkly immortal?  Screw that!  *I* want superpowers!"

I think this series would have been a million times better if Meyer had made the main focus on the war between the vampires and the werewolves and had made the romance a subplot.  That could have been a brilliant way to throw in an extra identity crisis for Edward and the Cullen clan.  Plus, Edward and Bella are kind of cute in small doses.  Four whole books about them is TOO MUCH.

Spiggy, Capulet, I started out with my parents reading "Guess How Much I Love You?" to me every night.
Then I read all 7 of the Harry Potters, with other random books thrown in while I was waiting for them all to come out.
The Confessions of Georgia Nicolson Series took over for a while.
I read all 4 Twilight books.
I started reading classics cause I saw the movie of Pride & Prejudice and wanted to try reading the book.
One of my solo talks was on Jane Eyre. (Thrown in for Lady M;])
Oh yeah. I read Dracula, too.

Twilight doesn't seem to have done me any harm, right?
Granted, re-reading the same series OVER and OVER isn't good, everyone should read everything if they want to live up to their potential.
Reading Twilight once or twice, though, is okay.
Tbh, I only ever re-read chapter 13. Cause it's my favourite.

I don't like twilight for a number of reasons. The fact that other pepole differ doesn't worry me.

The obsession with Edward does worry me. He's highly controling, selfish, and condecending. I'm worried about how many pepole see him as the ideal man.

i by no means fancy edward the character or the actor but he is a good example of young women lusting after what is not good for them, other examples include heathcliff of wuthering heights etc etc first love an all that jazz

i think that twilight is well written but i think the vampires are absolutely pathetic !!!
but i do think it would be an amazing book if it was about fairies even the bblood drinking and stuff just if they were a bit more fairylink and a bit less pathetic!!
well thats my vue on twilight !!

I embarassingly really enjoyed Twilight, Bella annoys me though. She's just too awkward.

^Sadly, it's the same for me. My only relief is that I have the presence of mind to hate the films...

I loved the books, i made sure i read the books before watching the films though so i wasnt influenced in my imagination!

However, I was a bit dissappointed with Breaking Dawn.

I read Twilight within hours of getting it;
I read New Moon within two days of getting it;
I read Eclipse within three days of getting it;
I read Breaking Dawn within three weeks of getting it :/

But I still love Twilight as a whole :D

*shrug* As far as drippy escapism goes, you could go worse than Twilight. At least it leads people on to Wuthering Heights. It's less repetative than Nora Robberts or that douchebag Danielle Steel. Twilight bashing is like an academic contact sport lately, it's silly. Let housewives and teenage girls do what they want.

To The Twilight Series In Genral:

I read all the books the moment they came out, as in finishing them in an hour or so.
I lked them up until breaking dawn, I think the last book ruined the series.
geh.

New moons my favorite but thats because Jacobs my favorite. I love his personality. (:

Meyers a good writer,
I think she should write a series about the wolf pack focusing on Seth because he's the youngest and things would be interesting through his eyes. (:

What does anything Twilight themed look like? Did you all wear beige slacks and face glitter? Or are there just pictures of Edward plastered everywhere?

I can't say I am a fan, but I must say I prefer the films to the books, because in the films, you don't have to deal with Stephenie Meyer's AWFUL writing.

But with the films you have to deal with bad acting.
