I haven't read the book, but I both want to and never want to. I want to mostly out of curiosity. I talk to a lot of people who are obsessed with it and I want to know WHY. I mean, I heard about the sparkly vampires thing and I stopped wanting to read it! Too many parody mangas... Sparkly men in a book just seems like a joke to me... That and I have too much pride as I writer... I don't want to read something that I could write better as a rough draft!

I might end up seeing the movie, well, more like renting... To avoid the bad writing. Movies are less painful to my soul... hehe

Well I bought it out of sheer curiosity (found it for a couple of quid ont net) and I read it literally in a day.

The story is there, I reckon it'd be a really enjoyable read if it wasn't written so badly. It almost seems like it's had parts written in advance and then a bunch of other bits chucked in for filler.

None of it seems to flow like it should, the parts you would expect to be written in great detail only get a few lines; maybe a paragraph. Then the most mediocre parts are dragged on and milked for what they're worth.

And yes "Shiny Man-pires" are totally rediculous. But I can see why teenagers are totally drawn to Twilight.

Sure, it has its moments of pure suck-tasticallity, but I read them all purely as a bit of mindless escapism.
There's not much to think about, I can imagine lots of pretty boys...I'm all for it!

I went out and bought that book when i saw it being mentioned on here cause i'm just a sucker for romance stories and i have this thing about vampires. I've read the first book and absoluely loved it.
I heard there was going to be a movie so i watched the trailer and, to be honest it looks like crap i don't like the guy thats playing Edward.

My friend is so obsessed with these books now its beyond, shes like a 12 year old talking about her crush EDWARD EDWARD EDWARD. I still loves me Jacob mainly because of that thing I seem to have for native American dudes :D Edward has no personality.

I read breaking dawn. Twas good. Not mind bendingly brill but good. I'll stick to 'To Kill A Mockingbird' thanks.

Yes, the guy playing Edward was in Harry Potter. Nd he did a bad job in tht movie too. I also think tht he will some of Edwards well written lines. I was imagining Edward as being dark haired, smexxii, nd a gentleman. But tht vision changed. I thought Edward was supposed to have blonde hair anyways.

Also, the guy is ugly nd has a huge head. I would be more afraid of tht then him sucking my blood. It looks like a balloon.

I got into these books cause I was bored over the summer nd I had read all the books i owned bout 5 times. I had no clue tht the book was bout vampires. After I read the first book, i was hooked. Nd then people started talking bout the book more nd buying the books.

Has anyone heard Bella's Lullaby?
...No offence to the composer.. but in the book they said it was good. _

It's out in in like 2 and a half weeks. Me and my friends are gunna go see it and we'll probably be screaming at the screen like "WHAT THE FUCK?!"

And has anyone else noticed that in the film all the Cullens look like they're wearing very bad wigs...

Breaking Dawn was so frustrating! I felt like shaking Bella and telling her to get rid of the goddamn baby if it's killing her, cuz Edward'd kill himself and then the baby'd be left without both parents. And all that hype over no fight at the end? AND Renesmee is such a stupid name.

I started reading this on Saturday night, I'm about halfway through.

And I can't decide, because it's either very cleverly written, or very badly written, as it reads like it has been written by a (somewhat precocious) seventeen year old girl.

I'll form my final judgement once I've finished it.

I've read The Host, her other book. It's written in a similiar style to Twilight. The character who's perspective is written from is a soul that's a coupla thousands of years old.

Hmmm, well I finished Twilight on Monday night. Seemed pretty basic stuff, nothing to get angry about, I didn't feel that I'd wasted any hours of my life from it, but then I also found that I didn't really engage with the characters or feel any real sense of peril. It all just seemed rather shallow.

But I'm not the target audience. And it's better than Dan Brown.

I'm debating whether to bother with them or not, I don't want to miss out if they're good.
But that whole hype thing turns me off. Am I just a snob?

A kick in the teeth is like a holiday compared to Dan Brown...

Twilight is a series of books about a teenage girl who goes to school and falls in love with a vampire, who just so happens to be good, rather than tear peoples' throat out and feed on their life blood.

Some people think they are incredibly good and perhaps the best thing since sliced Harry Potter.
