| Blog or journal? |
|
| I've been thinking about either starting a blog or start writing a journal but I'm torn about which to do. I could do both, but it would be more time consuming and one would probably loose out.
So what do you think? Blog or journal? Advantages and disadvantages?
Is this topic even in the right place?

| I guess it depends on what you want to achieve with what you're writing. If you want to show your writings off to others, you have something reasonably entertaining to write about and you don't intend on going into minute details about your personal life, a blog is probably better for you. A journal seems to me a more personal thing. I keep my journal so I can vent thoughts into it and attempt to organise and determine exactly how I'm feeling so if it's a place to rant/vent you're wanting, do a journal.

| I would say go for a journal. That way you can write about anything, get everything you want out and not have to worry about people reading private thoughts you don't want them to.
It's also nice to have pages of your handwriting to look back on, physically. :)
Blogging advantages... well, you can get feedback on what you write, and if you want to share your thoughts with the world, it's great.
You could combine the two and have an online journal, even, and with one of those you can choose whether to make it private or not.

| Journals can be great. I used to have one that I would take with me places. Walk down the road to our field and write in it under a tree. You can add drawings and things that you couldn't with a blog. As mentioned too, you can write much more privately. Journals are also a nice thing to keep. You can look back and reflect on things more easily.
Blogs, if about you and your life, can be a little more dangerous. I can be a pretty paranoid person, though, so take this with a grain of salt. But, the more information you put out there about yourself, the more someone else can learn about you. Even privacy settings have their faults.
