| the new afi cd, opinions anyone?? |
|
| afi just released their new cd, they had a 'hit' single called medicate. anyone have any opinions?? my personal opinion is tht i like the older afi more. Love Like Winter is my fave song by them. when i found out theyr were gonna have a new cd come out cuz i was xpecting some sequal to love like winter or somethin. I was kind of dissapointed with this cd (i think its called Crash or Crush). I dont really care for medicate.

| haven't heard the new album yet. I was largely indifferent about AFI until sing the sorrow. But that's just me...

| Same as CandiClaus really. I listened to the new album when they were streaming it on myspace though. My whole feeling about it was just "meh". It's not bad but Sing the Sorrow and Decemberunderground had such an impact on me from the first listen, I guess I was just disappointed. Crash Love just doesn't make me feel anything.

| Hehehe... I love the fact that Love Like Winter is referred to as "older" :P
I haven't listened to the new album. I probably should, as I'm seeing them in February, but I guess I'm just hoping that they'll play a lot of their back-catalogue.

| Davey cut his hair! Waahhhh! It was so pretty before, and it will never be the same. I don't like crash love very much. All the songs sound the same. Sing the Sorrow changed my life, I listen to it everyday. (yes thats mildly pathetic.) Dark Sails on the Sunset is cool too.
Davey and Jades side project, Blaqk Audio, is pretty good too. It's more electronic, and you should listen to it if you like Daveys voice and lyrics.

| i've only listened to it once in the car and was kind of whatever about it. i need to give it another listen. medicate is a good song though. i've been an afi fan for years, and i love the old stuff like very proud of ya and black sails in the sunset. sing the sorrow was also great, it just went in a different direction. i hated decemberunderground for the first year it was out, and then i suddenly started liking it. so maybe in a year i'll start liking crash/love more. not sure if i like davey's new hair more or less. i think he's delicious no matter what though.

| Crash Love is pretty good - certainly different, but no one would be happy with an album that sounds exactly the same either! Personal favorites are "Torch Song", "I Am Trying Very Hard to Be Here" and "Beautiful Thieves". I wouldn't say it's ground breaking for them or anything, but a solid album.
I have to admit Davey's new hair makes me a little sad - it looks good on him, but I also liked his longer hair (and long hair before that). Just takes a little time I suppose to get used to it. He no longer wears a lip ring, or very little to no makeup these days which was also quite a change... But as with their music, they need to change as suits them.
I saw AFI live in October - and YES they are brilliant live! It was my first time seeing them live (not my first gig or anything though) they give a ton of energy, and played a wide range of music. Lots of interaction with the crowd, they really care so much it's amazing. Even if you don't particularly care for Crash Love, I would recommend that you see them live.

| I saw them a couple of years ago at Give It A Name festival and they were fantastic. Black Sails is a good album, though I have to be in the right mood to listen to it. Most of their stuff before that I just don't enjoy. The Art of Drowning is great, but it wasn't until Sing the Sorrow that I really took notice, and Decemberunderground remains one of my favourite albums.

| I have to say none of the songs on Crash Love I really liked.
Medicate was unoriginal and boring.
I liked Decemberunderground but this one isn't nearly as good.
It's like just as poppy as that album, but it's not catchy or deep or really anything. :/
You should spend your money on the Sing the Sorrow instead, it's way more worth it :D
