Getting into psychobilly/horror punk

So, after listening to last.fm's random selection of Halloween music for the majority of yesterday, I've discovered that I rather enjoy psychobilly and horror punk music. It's totally different from what I normally listen to (synth, new wave, 80s... biggrin), so I have no idea what bands are worth listening to.

If I just trust last.fm, I'll get an endless amount of songs, but I won't really be able to pick out particular bands or artists that I really like. It all ends up mixing together. If you gave me some particular bands, I'd probably pay more attention listening to them, and I'd enjoy them more. So...any suggestions?

It would be great to have a little knowledge of psychobilly and horror punk in time for Halloween, dontcha think?
wink

Good pschyobilly bands to listen to:

-Horrorpops
-Tiger Army
-The Cramps
-Mad Sin
-Switchblade Valetines
-The Creepshow

I would suggest Nekromantix but in my opinion I don't find them really good but you can still check them out. I hardly know any horror punk bands apart from The Misfits.

Hendrixsa has chosen some excellent bands :)
I love Horrorpops and The Cramps best, I would also recommend Devlish Presley.

Zombina and the Skeletones!

And I know they've already been mentioned, but I also really recommend The Creepshow and HorrorPops. Zombie Ghost Train have some good songs too.

I saw The Creepshow at a venue in my town a few months ago. They were amazing, I danced my tits off then made a twat of myself by running up to the singer afterwards and telling her how wonderful and inspirational to other female musicians she was. ashamed.gif Eek!!! ashamed.gif

'Rue Morgue Radio' is the best rockabilly tune ever. Fact! biggrin

^^ Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!! Your so lucky. I would have loved to go up to Sarah Sin and told her she is one of the best female muscians of all time plus I would also tell her that her Gibson is ace.

I'm fairly new to psychobilly and horror punk; will have to look into some of these myself... here are two less known psychobilly bands to check out:

- Phantom Chords (I'm a huge Damned fan, so naturally I discovered this)
- The Limit Club (small psychobilly/rockabilly band from Arizona, really love what I've heard!!)

(And hi, I'm new to forums although have been reading Mookychick for a while now.)

Well I have no idea about horrorpunk, 'cept The Misfits. If you like The Cramps, I'd recommend The Birthday Party, or perhaps The Horrors?
