We've come up with The Wizard of Oz, With Johnny Depp as the Scarecrow, Alan rickman as the Lion, Helena as the Wicked Witch (that doesn't get crushed).
Any ideas?

I think it would be cool if he did Winnie the Pooh, with people in costume, based more truthfully on the original books than Disney's films. Eeyore is really sarcastic, Pooh is greedy, Piglet and Rabbit are cowards, Tigger is occasionally insensitive, Owl is arrogant- all the characters have flaws but they love each other anyway. I think Tim Burton could portray this well in a really interesting way.
Or perhaps he could make Eeyores tail loss more gruesome, the flood more horrific, Christopher Robin a sadistic overlord. Just make it spine chilling.

I really like the fairytale idea. Particularly anything by the Brothers Grimm. I've always liked the darker, non-disneyfied originals anyway, and seeing them done by Tim Burton would be epic.

^^ Nah, I want them to make the same one again but do all the things that they mentioned in the commentary, like have giant stiletto heels in the forest and cut that ridiculously long wolf transformation sequence down.
There are lots of other Angela Carter stories which could be made into Tim Burton films. Perhaps we should have another thread: Stories which Tim Burton could totally make into films.

Yes! Little Red Riding Hood. Perhaps he could also remake Sweeny Todd (or has he already done that? I can't remember) and I would love to see his version of War of the Worlds.
^Sweeney Todd (the movie released a couple of years ago) was directed by Tim Burton.
I don't think I'd want to see him remake any movie in particular. Sweeney Todd was a good adaptation of the musical, but I think remaking a movie is a different kettle of fish (even Alice isn't going to be the same story as the Disney movie). Admittedly, I haven't seen his version of Willy Wonka, but I hear it was quite good.
I'm also not too sure on making a movie of a fairytale - he'd have to get pretty creative, otherwise it would be too predictable (unless it was a rather uncommon fairytale - apparently the story of The Corpse Bride was some kind of folk tale?).
I think he's still got some original ideas in him yet :)

The Corpse Bride I think was based on a Russian story about a man who owed a debt to the Mob so they hijacked the bride's car on the way to the ceremony, killed and buried her. So her ghost walks around unable to rest because she never got to her wedding. Something like that anyway.
I think he'd do a good Little Mermaid.

I'm just going to wait for his adaptation of 'Dark Shadows'. Apparently my dad would come home from school and watch the original soap with my grandma when he was just a wee one. :)
Though I do think he is coming out with another original (at least it seems original) film about a young ghost hunter or something like that. I'm not sure anymore though, as I saw it once on IMDB and then it disappeared like they do when they're going into developement hell.
Though apparently he might have some part in '1984' according to my first glance at his IMDB page in a long time. That could be quite interesting.
Though, now that I think of it, I wouldn't mind seeing him remake Tod Browning's 'Freaks'. His style and that of the circus always seems to be a happy marriage of art.

^ The original Tales of the Unexpected (filmed in the '80s, I think) weren't bad but Tim Burton would make them even better!
I'd love to see Winnie The Pooh too! Or maybe a dark version of Pippi Longstocking and Ronia, the Robber's Daughter. That would be fucking amazing.

I have to say Rocky Horror.
Hm, what else? I do like the Snow White idea, also maybe a more sinister version of "A Fairy Tale", the story based on the Cottingley fairy case.

I'd like him to do 'The Wanderer', which is the film adaptation of Le Grand Meaulnes. I'm not sure about his ability to capture the pervasive sense of melancholy but he'd get the dreamlike Lost Domain down to a t.
If he ever did 'The Sword in the Stone' though, it'd be pretty much flawless, especially if he vased it more on White's original book and not the Disney film.
And I know he shouldn't really remake it, because it's not a remakeable film, but 'Eraserhead'? My brain would probably come out of my nose.

Tim Burton remaking Dracula?
I dunno about that.
I believe, as a rule, nobody and I mean absolutely NOBODY regardless of their film status should remake a classic.
A good example:
Despite being a low budget flick, Texas Chainsaw Massacre was a magnificent film. Observe how many followers its came as it's cult status shot through the roof.
Then Rob Zombie decided to go and ruin it.
^Oh really? Hm, I don't think MTV could do it alone.
Unless they got Russell Brand as Frank-N-Furter.
Now I've got ideas in my head.
Still, without Tim Burton it could be murdered...
