I'm from Milton Keynes, England.

It's about 25 miles north of London, and, as ShuvLove said, it's famous for roundabouts. It has some nice estates, and some dodgy ones. South Furzton, for example, is known for its chavs and rapists.

It's pretty good, as far as towns go, and we have an IKEA =) As well as an excellent public transport system.

I go clubbing in MK sometimes. It's dead expensive and someone always tries to fight me. I like the shopping though.

Ah, the shopping is good.  I never really go clubbing, Oceana's under18 nights are pretty much just like a mosh pit, but with crappy music and people catching mono from each other.

Pitz is good, mostly, and the tickets for the bands are nearly always <£10

^ Yeah Oceana can either be a great night out or appalling. I used to go to The Pitz all the time. I remember being amazed that it's basically a leisure centre. There were masses of teenagers in our moshing gear smoking while all these little kids filed out with their parents clutching swimming kits. Those were the days when you could smoke indoors too.

Now everyone sort of just grabs a beer and a fag and stands outside before the show and between bands.
I love the pitz.

Here are some pictures I took on my gorgeous walk yesterday. I walked across the fields from my village to my Granny's house in the next village, about a mile away. It was the most beautiful day. There are also some pictures of my village.

Spirit of the Valley art. That was an odd business.
This brook also runs behind my house.
What my village looks like from afar.
The hill from the graveyard to the very top end of the village.
The churchyard.
The church my parents were married in and my brothers and I were christened in. Didn't do us any good mind.
The war memorial and one of the most beautiful houses ever. Just been rethatched.

I hope you like them.

I'm from Alabama. I was born in Birmingham, grew up in a crappy, bigoted little town called Pell City, and I go to school in Troy. Most people here speak with the stereotypical deep southern drawl. I don't. I sound like a Chicago native :P

People like their food fried and their tea sweet here. College american football is a blood sport. 99% of the people here are southern Baptists. Our springs and summers (and usually early fall) are ungodly hot. You do not even need to sweat. The weather sweats for you due to the humidity. Nearly everyone here votes republican.

As long as you are a perfectly normal human being who says their "yes ma'ams" and "no sirs" people are very hospitable. If you are a weirdo like me, you will just want to run away to Chicago for the rest of your life.

I'm from a teeny tiny town called Hinton in Australia that gained international notoriety when it flooded and they shipped the beer into the town's pub via emergency flood boat. There's only about 300 people in the town and despite my opinion of it when i was younger (theres no public transport or shops at all) I kinda miss it now that im in the UK. It only takes about a minute to drive from one end of the town to the other and everyone knows everyone.

There are loads of cows and one horse stud, one pub and one primary school. The surrounding area is mostly flood plains and its very green, mostly flat fields and paddocks.

I dont have any pictures to post but if you look up 'hinton nsw' on google earth it's there!

I live in a scruffy little town in Manchester. I don't like it much. The majority of it's inhabitants are chavvy and look down on anyone normal. The buildings are very dull and average, the schools are mediocre. But we do have a lovely park with lots of green and trees and childhood memories.

I live in Harrogate, North Yorkshire! It's about 20 minutes away from Leeds and 30 mins from York

It is a posh little spa town, it's very beautiful, but is mainly full of rich, pretentious wankers or chavs!

There isn't much to do, other than go out for food or drinking in bars, although we do have Valley Gardens and some posh boutiques to look round!!

I am from Brighton, probably the most alternative place in the UK this side of Glastonbury.

I love it there, and I miss it very much during Cambridge terms. Especially the shops. And the sea. And being able to eat vegetarian food everywhere.

Cambridge is awesome too though. Beautiful and cobbled and historical. And steeped in 800 years of learning.

I'm from Puerto Rico, a paradise island in the Caribbean.

Puerto Rico is a self-governing unincorporated territory of the United States located in the northeastern Caribbean, east of the Dominican Republic and west of the Virgin Islands. Puerto Rico is composed of an archipelago that includes the main island of Puerto Rico and a number of smaller islands, the largest of which are Vieques, Culebra, and Mona. The main island of Puerto Rico is the smallest by land area and second smallest by population among the four Greater Antilles, which also include Cuba, Hispaniola, and Jamaica.

I'm from Vicksburg, Mississippi. It is right where the Mississippi River bends into the state. I believe we have a population of 26,000 or so. It is possibly most historically known for being under siege during the Civil War, if it is known at all. It is quite boring. We leave the town to shop. We have no particularly interesting restaurants or hang-outs. Our local attractions feature antebellum south memorabilia, Civil War sites, and casinos. We just got our theatre back after quite awhile, though admittedly, it is not much of a theatre.

However, I am currently going to college in Oxford, Mississippi. It is nicer than Vicksburg. There are college activities of interest, a great campus theatre (The Ford), great local restaurants, and interesting historical features (William Faulkner anyone?). There are also places like The Lyric which host a variety of acts. We also have an excellent independent book store called Square Books, which also has weekly author book signings and a live radio show (author readings and musical guests apparently). Oxford is a writer's town (a fact I adore). It is also considered an art town of the south (which is lovely). You may also be interested to know (or not), that it was very purposefully named after the Oxford of England as it was Mississippi's first university town, and has possession of a working Double-decker bus (in use) and a functional red English telephone booth. However,It is also home to the wealthy and the Greek (sorority/fraternity, not nationality), but you find what you seek, so I know plenty of people who have more in common with me.

Other possibly interesting Vicksburg facts (thank you Wikipedia):
1. Home of the world's longest running melodrama: Gold in The Hills
2. didn't celebrate the Fourth of July until WW2
3. Home to the McRaven House said to be one of the most haunted houses in America (have been there, was not personally haunted :))
4. First to bottle Coca-Cola (1894)

If interested in Oxford, look here:http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/49098/discovering_oxford_mississippi_events.html?cat=16

Sorry if that was a bit long and very uninteresting!
And yes I would move, though Oxford is nice.
I'd like to see as much of the world as possible.
And I would never settle in Vicksburg.

I live in a titchy village called Biddenden in Kent. It has

3 restaurants (if you count the Chinese takeaway)
1 cornershop
1 hairdresser
1 church

And is as dull as ditchwater. The bright lights for me are Ashford, a very trashy town 13 miles away. Can't WAIT to go to uni and get out of it!

After Uni i suppose it depends on what Uni i choose and if i like the area.

My future uni is near my home so I won't have to move soon. In a way, it's a pity but on the other hand it won't hit my bank account so badly. I'll probably spend a year of my undergraduate studies in Vienna because they have Scandinavian studies, a course that my uni doesn't offer. If I'm lucky and get a nice scholarship I'll take the ASNC course and do my post-grad studies at Cambridge.
If I'm not lucky, I'll do the above anyway. I'll be penniless but happy.

I took some pics today (please excuse that most are of the graveyard. There really isn't much else in my town and I walk through there most days to go to the coffee shop with my friends):
A little path that goes past the graveyard in our town
Our old library. It was my school's old building in like, the 1890's or something.
My ominous shadow in the graveyard. I'm wearing my coat so that's why the silhouette is weird.
Me and my friends sit on this wall after school sometimes. You can see part of the "General Store" which isn't actually that general. It's a coffee shop.

I come from a small city called Lincoln in England. I love it because it's so historic and quaint! We have a cathedral and castle, and in the old part of the city, there are cute little ice cream parlours and craft shops, as well as numerous hotels and restaurants smile Down by the harbour, there is a cinema, a hotel, bars and nightclubs and in the city centre, there are many shops!

I should write a guide book or something >.> biggrin
