New Layoutybits.

Alright, the toolbar.

God it's irritating. Can we make it go away completely? Like, will there be an option to do so? And I don't mean just minimise it, it's horrible :(

And have all the fonts got smaller or am I going mental?

Alllllllllllso, didn't know where else to put this :)

We're just testing out the toolbar to see if it's beneficial t us in any way. Obviously, if you don't like, it's a vote against. Hopefully it'll be something each individual can switch on or off, but at the moment all we're offered is all or nothing. We're always interested in people's opinions.

And yes, all the fonts got smaller. It wasn't us, we didn't touch a thing. It happened on Friday and we were bemused and cinfused by it all. Then Activeboard, who host this thing, let us know they've upgraded their software to HTML 4.01 Strict. And no, I haven't a clue what that means either. However, it seems it's changed our fonts and as I'm clueless about HTML and CSS, I'm leaving this one for Magda to investigate more, as she's the website genius. We're sorry about the hassle this causes and we will get it sorted as soon as we figure out how.

:)

Think I may have sorted the font size problem... Took a lot of fiddling and I'm now worried something else might have gotten broken...

The font size isn't a problem, I just thought I was going mental.
I am truly sick of people adding toolbars to stuff though. I hate stuff flapping about the bottom of my screen!! It makes me go a bit Hulk on you.

yup, toolbars are annoying. I thought my computer was doing something mental again - I've had a couple of virus problems in the last wee while and I was panicking that I'd got another one that was making stuff pop up on my screen!

Well, we did put a news item up telling you what we'd done...

You do read the news items, don't you?

We bleed words from our very brains into those news items and they just get ignored...

We don't allow it. Because it would be too difficult to manage, we're only a small moderating team, so we wouldn't have time to monitor anonymous posts. Maybe we're wrong, or paranoid, but we feel that most anonymous posts would be little more than spam or trolls, so why invite them?

From time to time, I consider having an open id, which people can use should they wish to post something and remain anonymous, but that itself is fraught with issues.

When people delete their accounts, any posts they made become annonymous posts. :)

PRIVATE FORUM?

is this site accesable to people who aren't a member?
post wise can people read the posts? if so can we work on making that not the case.

Yes it is, I think mainly to give people who are thinking of signing up a bit of a chance to nose around and decide if it is for them.
Why do you think it should be private?

This forum is kept open to anyone so they can see what the community is like. People can only post once they're a member. This is pretty standard on most forums.

We can set up a private forum for members only, if people like the idea.

We can also set private forums up for specific users but that's a touch elitist.

Jellah Bean, if there are any specific posts you're worried about, just ask a moderator (myself, Kitty Fire or LollyPOP) and we can delete them for you if you need us to. Or you can edit your old posts if you need to, as well.

And, of course, your name and profile pic can give as much or as little away about you as you like...

Has the avatar size limit changed? I am noticing a lot of (somewhat annoying) large avatars.

Not quite sure what you mean.

If I were to hit post quick reply twice, it would only post this once? Because there's a block set on people posting too quickly, to prevent spammers.

RE: Forum questions

Hmmm, it appears that the avatar size just changed to allowing bigger pictures. Now, we could change it back, not sure yet. What's everyone's views on this?

I like it so I can see pictures better, but they do appear annoyingly large, take up lots of room on my not-so-big computer screen and my face looks massive and should not be thrust upon people in such proportions. Can we bring slightly smaller pictures in?

I think the sizes should be made smaller, but not a small as before. Perhaps somewhere in the middle of the old and new sizes?

Perhaps 150x150 could be the new size limit? Or maybe a little smaller in width because that's what makes the avatars look so huge, methinks.
